Water-based ink

Water-based ink mainly uses water as the solvent, and has the advantages of stable ink color, high brightness, strong tinting strength, strong adhesion after printing, adjustable drying speed and strong water resistance. Compared with other inks, water-based ink does not contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are harmful to the environment and human health. Therefore, water-based ink is more eco-friendly and safer to use than solvent-based or UV ink. Water-based ink also has less lubrication capability than solvent-based or UV ink, which can reduce the lifespan of the printing equipment. Solvent ink

Solvent ink uses organic solvents as the carrier of the pigments, and has the advantages of fast drying rate, wide compatibility with various substrates, high durability and weather resistance. Solvent ink also has a lower price than water-based or UV ink, and does not require film coating or lamination after printing.


However, solvent ink also has some disadvantages. The main one is that it emits a large amount of VOCs during the printing and drying process, which can cause air pollution and health problems for the operators and consumers. Therefore, solvent ink requires strict ventilation and emission control measures to comply with environmental regulations. Solvent ink also has a higher cost of pollution emission permits, waste management and safety precautions than water-based or UV ink. Moreover, solvent ink can damage some substrates due to its strong solubility and corrosiveness.


UV ink

UV ink uses ultraviolet (UV) light as the curing agent, and has the advantages of instant drying without penetration or evaporation, extensive printability to various substrates (including non-absorbent ones), high gloss and color saturation, low energy consumption and no VOC. UV ink is ideal for high-speed printing applications that require high quality and durability. UV ink can also create special effects such as matte, glossy or textured finishes by adjusting the curing parameters.


However, UV ink also has some drawbacks. The main one is that it has a higher price than water-based or solvent ink, which can increase the printing cost. UV ink also requires special equipment and maintenance to ensure proper curing and safety. UV ink can also cause skin irritation or eye damage if exposed to direct UV light or uncured residues. Moreover, UV ink can have limited adhesion or flexibility on some substrates due to its high viscosity and hardness.
